2021, what a year to be a family photographer!

For my last blog of the year, I wanted to make it a memorable one and celebrate all my wonderful clients I’ve had the pleasure of meeting throughout the year. By sharing some of my favourite photoshoots and most memorable photos.

Thank you for all your support during this last year.

Is your family featured in the blog? Read on to find out but remember you can only be featured if you have allowed me to share your images.

The BIG family cake smash!

large family enjoying cake smash session for twins

And what a cake smash it was for the twins, Mum & Dad were commenting on how good the cake looked so naturally HAD to join the twins. Everyone got involved! I love being able to incorporate a family session and cake smash.

Snowdrops! Beautiful Snowdrops!

The afternoon sun, a beautiful carpet of stunning delicate snowdrops and a beautiful little angel exploring it all. February to March is the best time for a Snowdrop Woodland photoshoot. You don’t want to miss it!

Springtime in bloom

Daffodils, Bluebells and beautiful Wild Garlic. Springtime in Derbyshire is so beautiful and one of my favourite times of the year. What a wonderful backdrop for your family photos!

Most surprising location for a big family photoshoot

Oh my gosh! When Nicola asked me if we could swap locations and do the photoshoot in her brother’s garden, I did not expect anything like this! Imagine the most beautiful cottage garden adorned with bright wildflowers and the biggest sunflowers the kids had ever seen. It truly was stunning and more than enough room for everyone to snuggle in for a big family photoshoot.

I love using locations that are special to you, it really does make everything just that more special and personal.

Most romantic maternity photoshoot

A stunning woodland scattered with bluebells, the sun peeking through the trees and a beautiful couple expecting their first baby together. I really struggled to pick a favourite photo from this session, they were absolute naturals and an absolute dream.

The way they look into each other’s eyes just makes for a magical photo and don’t just take my word for it; this beautiful photo recently won an award with the exceptional Glow Photography Awards.

Balloons, Balloons, Balloons!

I always love photographing Darcy and her Mummy & Daddy, this time it was to celebrate her first birthday and we arranged for a beautiful cake smash session with a collection of perfect pastel balloons that Darcy loved.
Although I couldn’t quite believe it when we got to our location and they had mowed down all the wildflowers, they were getting on a bit but we managed to find the perfect little nook to do the photoshoot and it was absolutely perfect…..we didn’t lose any of the balloons either!

Best friends!

How cute are these two!!! Dougie absolutely loves his beautiful dog Phoebe, she followed him everywhere and would not leave his side.

They say never work with children and animals but these two were as good as gold and so much fun to work with.

Most dapper two-year-old

And the award for the MOST dapper two-year-old goes to! Rowan! He absolutely rocked his bluebell session this spring and had so much fun running round with Mummy & Daddy.

Mummy & Me

The sweetest Mummy & daughter moment has to be this one, Esmee picked some beautiful wildflowers for her Mummy during their family session. Such a beautiful, kind girl.

Best new location find of 2021

I had the pleasure of being allowed to take photos at a beautiful wildflower farm in Nottingham and oh my gosh it is STUNNING! Unfortunately, I’ve not been allowed to share photos from sessions there (clients choice not venues so don’t worry!), but I must say the results were absolutely beautiful!

If you’re dreaming of a unique and beautiful background for your family photos then this is the place we need to go! I could walk round here for hours and watch the butterflies.

Most cheeky smile

You might have gathered by now, but I love taking photos with beautiful floral and woodland backdrops. We found so many different colours of rhododendrons during this photoshoot, but Max chose the purple ones to feature in this photograph. Which coincidentally matches perfectly with their outfits!

A second after the first photo was taken his baby sister gave us the BEST cheeky smile. Little moments like this make for the most beautiful photos.

The biggest family

A family of 7 and a super cute furry sister makes 8! This was a fun session! One of the reasons I LOVE outdoor sessions is that the kids can run around and explore. And explore they did! This gave Mummy & Daddy a little break with their newest addition while the kids and I went off to take some fun photos.

Most humbling session

What an amazing gift organised by the wonderful Willow foundation for this amazing Mummy. She has been through so much and it was an absolute pleasure to help bring joy to this amazing family and celebrate the arrival of their fourth little boy.

Mummy also had her hair & make up arranged and the whole amazing experience planned by the foundation.

Autumn superstars

After Spring, Autumn is one of my favourite times of the year. The colours of the leaves as they’re changing is magical and everything is so enchanting. I couldn’t choose just one photo to show you! During my sessions we go looking for fairies, playing with leaves and even make leaf angels.

Although this last image is one of my favourites ever! Mummy & Daughter matching outfits, the most beautiful light and the sound of leaves crunching. We had so much fun creating this photo and I was so excited when Emma decided to have this printed on a big canvas, the colours are incredible.

Sweetest newborn photoshoot

This family really knew how to rock an at home photoshoot! Everything was so relaxed and everyone had fun. Not to mention the beautiful bold colours throughout their house made for the perfect backdrop.

I always speak to my clients about what colours and outfits might work best with their home decor ahead of the photoshoot. At the end of the day you’re having a photos taken so you can display them in your home so you want them to fit in perfectly. This photoshoot did exactly that, the images are bold, emotional and capture the essence of this beautiful family perfectly.

Big sisters and little tiny toes

I’ve photographed Myla three times now and every time she’s been an absolute pleasure. It was my last photoshoot of 2021 and I got to meet her baby brother Archie for an at home photoshoot. She’s such an amazing big sister to him, you can tell just how much she adores him.

During newborn and baby photoshoots I always like to get detail shots of tiny toes, little hands and Mummy & Daddy holding their tiny new additions.

Now Mummy & Daddy didn’t want to be included in the photos for this session but I did manage to convince them to have their hands in for this last photo and what a beautiful reminder it is for them of how tiny Archie really was!

Twins!

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing many sets of twins since I started on my photography journey but these beautiful identical twin boys were definitely the tiniest and best behaved, they didn’t cry once! But can’t you just tell they’re going to be little heart breakers when they’re older.

Most magical winter photoshoots

My magical winter wonderland photoshoots came back for a second year this year and were an absolute blast! I love that I can create a little winter magic for you all, regardless of if it’s snowing or not outside!

Thank you!

From the bottom of my heart, it really does mean the world to me. The referrals, social media engagement, taking the time to open emails and website sharing means that more and more people get to see how they could experience the type of photoshoot you’ve all experienced and loved. And I have loved being a part of all of your journeys and capturing these special moments for you!

I can’t wait to see what 2022 has in store for us!

Happy New Year Everyone!
